Special blends of washed sand were supplied to all major Victorian tile manufacturers.By 1973 C Pirotta & Sons had expanded significantly and now operated pits at Springvale, Lyndhurst, Cranbourne, Tynong North and The Gurdies. At this time concrete batching plants were established at Springvale and Cranbourne which serviced 18 concrete trucks. These operations by now had a turnover in excess of $5 million per annum. A putrescible waste operation was also established at Springvale to utilise worked out sandpits. In 1991 a purpose built factory was constructed in Newcomen Road Springvale which is now the Head Office for Gypsum Australia Pty Ltd, Pirotta Minerals Pty Ltd and Pirotta Motors Pty Ltd.
In 1996 the Company commenced gypsum mining operations in North western Victoria. During the following three years production trebled due to sound management practices and the commissioning of a new hammermill crushing plant which replaced the use of rotary hoes and produced a far superior and consistently high grade product. Due to the increasing demand for high grade agricultural gypsum in Victoria and South Australia, an additional pit at Rainbow was opened in 2002. At this time the Company also commenced bagging gypsum for home gardeners. Gypsum Australia races a Ford Cortina fitted with a V8 motor at Calder Raceway, Sandown and Phillip Island.
